What is it?
A domain name is an internet address that web users can use to contact your business. For example. edgnett.com.au is a domain name.

A domain name can have various services attached to it, the most common being websites
(http://www.edgnett.com.au), and email addresses (admin@edgnett.com.au).

Costs
Edgnett can register your domain name and setup website and/or mail hosting with Westnet. After the domain name is registered, your email and web address will remain the same as long as you maintain the domain and hosting service.

As an example, a typical small business would register a .com.au domain for $88 for two years. Mail hosting would cost an extra $192 per year for 10 email addresses or $264 per year for 50.

If you also had a website you would need to host it under your domain name. Combined mail and web hosting packages are available from as little as $220 a year.

Voice over IP is a new technology that allows you to significantly reduce your telephone bills. On average in Broken Hill, we have found the saving is usually around 60-70%.

How is this achieved?
Currently, when you make a telephone call, the signal travels over the phone line to the Telstra phone network. Utilising VoIP, the signal is picked up by the VoIP box before it reaches the telephone network, and is instead routed over the internet to a VoIP service provider such as Engin. Incoming calls remain unchanged and come over the regular phone network.

What are the benefits?
Engin offer a 10c untimed call rate to any standard landline in Australia. This means there are no longer any STD rates to pay, a great benefit in Broken Hill. This is also lower then the local call charge of both Telstra and Optus.
Calls to Mobiles are charged at 29c per minute, which is again cheaper then the equivalent Telstra and Optus charges. International rates vary from country to country but are generally cheaper then standard international charges. (e.g. Calls to the UK are 3.5cents per minute).

Will it affect my PABX /PBX system?
No it will not, it will interface seamlessly into your phone system.
